Shop. Save. Sustain
Seven Tips to help you Thrift shop like a pro!!
At the best of times shopping for clothes is difficult. Vintage and sustainable clothing shopping, as fun as it is, has many considerations that you need to know about before venturing out for the day. I have compiled a top tip list for you to enjoy that has helped me on my sustainable clothing journey, and I hope it does the same for you!
1. Know what you’re looking for!!
If you write out a list beforehand of things you wish to purchase whilst shopping it will help you to stay on track and not lose focus!

2. Plan the trip
Do you know your local charity shops and vintage sellers nearby? Do you want vintage clothing or regular preloved modern clothing? These questions you must consider before shopping!! By mapping out exactly where you want to shop, you will save time and petrol!
3. Check opening hours
Most charity shops and vintage sellers are only open 5 days a week and many close at 3pm so be sure to know these before making the trip down to the store
4. Be aware of local clothing markets
Especially in South Australia, you are guaranteed to have a sustainable clothing or preloved market every weekend! For updates on these events, search on Facebook to see what’s happening!
5. Bring a friend!
Two is better than one! By bringing a friend along with you, it not only allows you to look for pieces you both may enjoy but it also creates a great day out with friends at a low price!
6. Know what days are best for shopping
Many stores have re-stock days that have the most amount of items donated. Be sure to ask a staff member when shopping or even call ahead to ensure you have the best chance at finding a steal!
7. Understand that you might not always find what you’re looking for
When thrift shopping you are not guaranteed to find the exact thing you are looking for every time and that is okay, its all part of the experience! It is, however, good to know that that is always thrift store near you that is waiting for you to come in and explore!
