Modular clothing. It’s not a familiar term to most people, but what if you were told it is the future of fashion?

Over 80 billion kilograms of non-biodegradable clothing was sent to landfill in 2019, that’s enough to fill Sydney harbour!

Many Australian designers are aiming to reduce this mountain of waste by creating modular clothing; pieces that are transformed by detaching and reattaching different materials, creating new garments using the same fabric.

One of these designers is up-and-coming RMIT fashion student, Teya Griff.

I sat down with Teya to talk about her modular designs and what she is doing to stop the fast fashion pattern.

Click the audio provided below to listen to our conversation about her new innovative collection of modular clothing!!
