I decided to create SustainSA as I wanted to bring your attention to the amazing work that is being done by creators, communities and store owners around South Australia regarding sustainable fashion and the reduction of the fast fashion industry.

If you're wondering what fast fashion and sustainable clothing is, let me break it down for you through some fun facts!!

​

• Fast fashion is cheap, disposable and mass-produced clothing designed to keep up with the latest fashion trends... however, In Australia, 6000 kilograms of ‘fast fashion’ items are dumped in landfill every 10 minutes. 

​

• 75% of Australians have thrown away clothes in the past year, with 1 in 6 only wearing that garment once

​

• Over 80 billion kilograms of non-biodegradable clothing was sent to landfill in 2019, that’s enough to fill Sydney harbour.

​

It  is important to highlight that I am here to showcase what people and organisations are doing to stop these statistics!!
